After nearly 12 years, Dev and Subhashree are back together on screen in Kaushik Ganguly’s long-awaited film Dhumketu. Their public reunion at the Nazrul Mancha trailer launch sent fans into nostalgia. Subhashree even teased Dev with the iconic line, “Amar shonge friendship korbe?” The excitement peaked with the official teaser release in June 2025. Headlines called it an “unfinished love story”. Even after years of distance, personal and professional, the connection between Dev and Subhashree clearly hasn’t dimmed. And with Dhumketu releasing on 14 August 2025, the hype is real. Social media trends, fan edits, and event appearances all point to a major comeback moment for Bengali cinema.
From the trailer, Dhumketu looks like a deeply emotional tale of love, identity, and survival. Dev plays a tea estate manager forced into hiding for nine years, then disguised as an elderly soldier to reclaim his life.
It wasn’t released earlier due to production conflicts, especially between Dev and co‑producer Rana Sarkar, along with dubbing disagreements, legal issues, and post‑production delays.
The film is scheduled to release on 14 August 2025, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.

Dhumketu was primarily shot between late 2015 and 2016, with filming wrapped by 2017.
The movie is written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly.
It is co-produced by Rana Sarkar and Dev Adhikari, under Dag Creative Media and Dev Entertainment Ventures.
Dev and Subhashree’s last on‑screen film together before Dhumketu was the romantic action comedy Khoka 420, released in June 2013.
