If 2025 taught us anything about Bengali cinema, it is this - ‘Golpo thakle Bangali jomi dei.’ From mysterious thrillers to powerful dramas, this year’s movies brought nostalgia, tears and laughter, sometimes all in the same scene.
So, let us dive into the Top 10 Bengali movies of 2025, which not only entertained us but proved again that Bangla cinema r golpo te jor achhe.
The biggest hit of this year. Our favourite sleuth returned this time in Benaras. Eken Babu showed that detective films are always “paisa wasool.” It was made with just ₹2 crore, and it earned ₹9.30 crore. The public gave it 6.4 on IMDB, but the audience also said that there would be no suspense without Eken Babu.
This Bengali cinema “Aamar Boss” taught everyone that budget does not matter when the story is amazing. Made with only 80 lakhs, it collected ₹4.80 crore. Its IMDB rating of 8.7 showed the deep connection with the viewers. Truly, Boss mane bhalo leadership aar golpo-te bossgiri.
“Killbill Society” was released with style. The name brought people to the theatres. Budget was ₹1.5 crore, and earnings reached ₹3 crore. Critics were not kind with a 5.2 IMDB, but the public said, Naam-i half kaaj kore diyechilo.
“Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan” was another film which impressed the public. Adventure means nostalgia for Bengalis. With a ₹1.20 crore budget and ₹2 crore earnings, it proved to be the ‘treasure hunt of all Bengalis’. IMDB gave it a solid 8.
“Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei” the title itself created a curiosity in the minds of the public. Made on a ₹1 crore budget, it earned ₹1.80 crore. Its IMDB rating was 7.2. A simple plot with a strong dialogue: “Shotyi kotha kokhono purono hoy na.”
“Puratawn” was a film which was deeply rooted in nostalgia. It did not scream for attention but connected deeply and silently. The budget was ₹1 crore, earnings ₹1.64 crore. IMDB rated it 6.9, but the public said it was a small film with a big heart.
“Grihapravesh” deep down showed the power of a family. With a ₹1 crore budget and ₹1.56 crore earnings, it proved that family stories touch hearts. IMDB rated it 7.1, and the audience felt ‘Ei chhobir golpo amader barir moto.’
“Binodiini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan” is a biopic story which won hearts and respect. Budget was ₹1 crore, earnings ₹1.55 crore. IMDB gave it a powerful 8.2. This cinema reminded us of Asol star power thake golpo te, poster-e noy.
“Ei Raat Tomar Amaar” brought back the romance. Budget ₹1 crore, collection ₹1.35 crore, IMDB 7.3. It is a simple love story that made people say “Ei raat jeno amar-o holo.”
Last but not the least, “Onko Ki Kothin” directed by Saurav Palodhi could not recover its budget. It earned only 84 lakhs on a ₹1 crore investment. But with an IMDB of 8, it proved to be ‘bhalo golpo mone thake, box office a noi’.
